College Essay Seminar on May 30, 2015
The essay is an extremely important part of college applications, as it is a chance for the students to present their own voice directly to a college. Students can find the essay the most intimidating step for 3 reasons:
1) Students find it difficult to focus on an idea for their essay
2) Students have no frame of reference for the types of essays written for college applications
3) Students find it hard to gain trustworthy critiques of their essays
Attend our seminar to find out what every student should know about the college application essay! Due to limited space, reservation is required: to reserve a seat, you can register online (under the Message line, put “college essay seminar”), or call 510-656-6800.
Seminar: The College Application Essay
Date: Saturday, 05/30 at 1:00pm
Location: 43301 Mission Blvd, Fremont, CA, 94539
Speaker: Dr. Karen Brown-Wheeler
“I thought the counseling was very useful in terms of creating strict deadlines for the due dates, as well as for finding the right colleges to apply to. I enjoyed the essay help, in depth edits such as specific information and trying to make the essay stand out more have been helpful in the process, the broad ideas were edited well too.”-B. Ma
“Karen was extremely flexible with my personal extracurricular schedule that changes from week to week. Our time together allowed me to help bounce ideas off another person and flesh out half-baked ideas. It was very helpful to have someone help look over what I had just written with a fresh set of eyes, instead of having to wait several ideas to gain a more distant perspective myself. If you consider yourself to be relatively driven and set your own deadlines/do your research, working with Karen allows for a flexible, laid-back, yet effective communication.” -L. Zhao
