Essay Workshop
What do you think is most important to learn about writing?
- How to improve my academic writing skills for better English grades
- How to write a creative & compelling narrative, which will help me on my future college application essays
- How to fix common mistakes in my writing
While writing is vital for English and other classes and future college application essays, it is not always easy to get detailed help and feedback on your writing from regular school classes with just one teacher for 30+ students. And the later you wait to work on writing, the more stressed you will be when faced with a more complicated assignment or unfamiliar writing prompt, like the personal prompts for applying to college.
What if you could learn those important skills now from IvyBoost’s Essay Workshop, led by an experienced essay mentor who has successfully guided many other students on essays for selective colleges? Each small group will have no more than 5-6 students. It is intended for students in grades 8th/9th and 10th.

Albert is a Bay Area native who graduated from Irvington High School. Although he wanted to be an X-Men, he ended up studying Criminology, Law, and Society at UC Irvine for his undergrad. Later, he harnessed his eccentric imagination and mastered the art of storytelling by getting his MFA in screenwriting at Loyola Marymount University. During his time in LA, he assisted in Hollywood development by researching various popular comic book and video game intellectual properties.
He has worked with and been trained by experienced counselors at IvyBoost on career planning and college admissions counseling to successfully help students get into very selective colleges. Albert’s specialty in the application process is to help students on their essays. Just as he has created compelling characters in the thousands of hours in his own writing, Albert uses a similar model to teach students how to make their college essays packed with interest and drama.
