IvyBoost Success Story: A student’s path to Emory
Meifan was a driven student with a strong academic performance from a public high school in Fremont. She knew exactly what she wanted to pursue in her college studies and career towards nursing, but was also aware of how complex the college applications process could be.
Before the start of her 12th grade for Fall 2025, Meifan looked to IvyBoost to guide her through the challenges and changes in each step of her college applications.
Meifan had consistent experience and involvement from her high school years towards her science interest. With IvyBoost counseling, she was able to put all her hard work and achievements into context towards colleges for nursing:
Evaluate College Options: Though there were several in-state colleges Meifan would have been happy with, her IvyBoost counselor also worked with her on considering other out-of-state college choices with competitive and excellent nursing programs, for ED applications and regular applications.
Present Context of Activities and Accomplishments: With direct experience and hundreds of hours as a nursing assistant, Meifan had clear accomplishments to link to their nursing interest. IvyBoost counseling made sure that her talent and drive for the field could be clearly seen through her applications as a main theme.
Share Other Aspects in Essays: Besides the importance of Meifan’s past nursing-related experiences, with IvyBoost’s essay mentoring, she was encouraged to share other personal aspects and interests in her writing, such as music. This provided a better and more comprehensive picture of herself as an individual to colleges.
As a result of Meifan’s early groundwork for her passion in science and with IvyBoost guidance, Meifan received an Early Decision acceptance from Emory University for their nursing program.
She now is excitedly anticipating to continue pursuing research and in-depth studies in biology and health at Emory for the coming Fall of 2025!
