Summer Business Programs

For students interested in studying Business, you may have already heard the phrase ‘business is all about networking.’ Choosing a pre-college summer program at one of the best universities in the country makes for a great introduction to the college experience, as well as highlights your college career passions.

Boston College 

  1. Business & Leadership Institute

Boston College’s three-week Business Leadership Institute focuses on providing students with a solid foundation of the business world, from marketing and management, to finance and economics. Program participants will attend two classes a day, plus take field trips, attend social events, and develop their leadership skills through hands-on workshops.

Location: Boston College Boston Massachusetts.

Drexel University 

  1. Camp Business

Sponsored by Drexel University’s LeBow School of Business, Camp Business provides in-depth introductions to university and corporate business education for students in the 10th and 11th grades. Students learn accounting, marketing, finance and management, and leadership, professional image, etiquette, team building and strategy. Students will also be exposed to stock markets, financial documents and other information. At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion.

Location: Drexel University Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

Dates: July 11-17, 2020 (accommodation only); July 20-24, 2020 (commuting only).

July 25-31, 2020 (accommodation only).

Fees: Accommodation: $1,500 (7 days, including 6 nights accommodation and all meals).

Commuter: $750 (5 days, including all breakfast and lunch, and closing dinner last night).

Georgetown University 

  1. Entrepreneurship Academy

Students will learn about entrepreneurship, social responsibility, risk management, and the business operations of private and non-profit organizations. Hear from entrepreneurs from different industries and visit local incubators to understand the conditions needed to be a successful entrepreneur. Combine theory and practice, turn ideas into clear practice plans, and participate in the final competition and showcase. The project focuses on personal development and helps students build and improve their public speaking and communication skills, public relations skills and team building skills.

  1. Leadership in the Business World

Sponsored by the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, the Leadership in the Business World pre-college program is easily one of the most sought-after and selective summer programs around. The 160 selected students will spend four intensive weeks attending lectures from top Wharton professors and distinguished guests, receiving coaching on things like communication and leadership skills, collaborating on projects, designing and presenting an original business plan, attending fun social activities, and much, much more.

Location: Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA.

Dates: May 31 to June 27, 2020; June 28 to July 25, 2020.

LaunchX doesn’t just tell you HOW to start a company; they show you the steps to identify a gap in the market and create a real-life business in just four weeks. They push you out of your comfort zone and set you up for startup success with a network of peers and mentors even after you leave the program.

Location and dates for summer 2020 will be announced by January 2020.

In 2019, the program was held at University of Michigan, Northwestern University, and MIT.

  1. Summer Discovery @UCLA

Summer Discovery is a well-established educational liaison who has partnered with University of California—Los Angeles to offer a unique and prestigious pre-college summer business program to high schoolers. The three-week program immerses students into life at a top college campus, and students are expected to take courses, live in the residence halls, and participate in sports and other activities for fun. Additionally, program students take several planned field trips in and around L.A. Business courses available include Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports; Digital Marketing and Social Media; and Sports Business.

Location: UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Duration: 3 weeks.

Cost: Commuter: $3,599. Residential: $7,599.

  1. Summer Scholars

Those looking to experience life at a prestigious university like Notre Dame can look no further than the Summer Scholars program. Scholars choose from a lengthy list of interesting programs of study, then enjoy two intense weeks of coursework — though plenty of free time is also included to experience life on a college campus. Some examples of programs from which participants can choose from include Confronting Poverty: Bringing Service to Justice; Entrepreneurship, Problem Solving, and Social Change; and so much more. Existing accounting summer camps also have marketing summer camps.

Location: University of Notre Dame, Indiana.

Dates: June 27 to July 11, 2020.

Cost: $3,750 (includes tuition, accommodation, extracurricular activities and classroom visits).

  1. Programs for Talented Youth

Gifted and high-achieving students (generally those who typically score at the 95th percentile and above) are invited to participate in Vanderbilt University’s prestigious Summer Academy. This unique experience allows students to get a taste of real college life by living on campus, taking accelerated ending social activities, and of course, completing college-level homework assignments. Business-themed courses include New Problems in Law, Behavioral Economics, Consumerism & Identity, Consumerism in American Society, and more.

  1. USC Summer Programs

Every summer, the top-ranked University of Southern California hosts high school students on its campus as part of its summer college immersion program. Students can choose to experience life as a college student in either the four-week credit-earning or the two-week non-credit program. Business-themed courses include Exploring Entrepreneurship, Ethical Business Strategies, Introduction to Business, and more.

  1. Anson L. Clark Scholars Program

The Clark Scholars program at Texas Tech University is an intensive seven-week summer research program. Open to high school juniors and seniors, the program allows students an opportunity for hands-on practical research with leading researchers and members of the Texas Tech faculty. This unique opportunity, which also includes weekly seminars and fields trips, also pays students a $750 tax-free stipend and provides room and board.
